In the last few years Giant Gardening has really taken off. Whether you are a full-blown giant gardening competitor, or just looking to grow an impressive 5lb. tomato, Giant Gardening is easy and a lot of fun. The world record for pumpkins is now 2323 lbs., the tallest sunflower 30'1" tall, the heaviest watermelon 350 lbs., and how about a 20lb. carrot!

- 2024 Update: A new Tallest SUNFLOWER US Record of 26'5" has been set with GiantGardening.com's site owner Steven DeRycke's 2024 sunflower. We're very proud of this effort, and have collected a lot of information and pics to share HERE
- Canada's John Butler has had a few years of successful Sunflowers, setting new North America records as he "inches" towards the World Record. 27'8.5" in 2022, 26'3" in 2023, and an amazing 28' 2.5" in 2024!
- Alex Babich from Indiana sets the U.S. Tallest Sunflower twice in successive years with a 25'2" in 2022, then a 26'1" sunflower in 2023.
- We've been a little occupied with 'Life' for the past few years to update the newest records, we apologize.
- A Tallest SUNFLOWER US Record has been set with Marvin Mitchell's 2017 sunflower. Using the same seeds you can find here, Marvin was able to grow a 24'9" Sunflower!. This is over a foot taller than the ones he and GiantGardening.com owner Steve DeRycke tied with in 2016.
- The TOMATO World Record stood firm for 28 years, but Dan MacCoy has broken it with an 8 lb. 6.5oz tomato.
- Peter Glazebrook has done it again! A new world record with his 20 pound Carrot, check the page for more info and a video interview.
- The 1-Ton Pumpkin barrier continues to be broken down! Congratulations to Beni Meier for his 2323 lb World Record!
- Chris Kent tops his previous efforts with a 350.59 lb Watermelon!
- This was apparently another great pumpkin growing season, many new records on our Pumpkin List
- Giant Gardening owner Steve DeRycke grows a potential World Record heavy Sweet Pepper!

Proper watering might seem very basic, but if done improperly it might be the one detail that will prevent your specimen from breaking a record. I can not express how important proper watering is to giant gardening....
